St John's Christmas Market 2009

Alongside our 4th Charity Christmas Tree Festival ran the St. John's Christmas Market. In addition to a series of interesting stalls there were various activities
- ranging from raffles and Tombolas, through children's craft activities, to face and, even nail, painting! Father Christmas (pictured below with vaious "helpers") was also there and many children had their photo taken with him.

.
The ever popular St. John's cafe also provided a place for visitors to catch up with friends and rest their feet as well as enjoy refeshment.

A good time was had by one and all and many a bargain was obtained in the process!

Plant Sale 2008

The turn out for the plant sale on Saturday 31st May was rather disappointing this year. This was a shame as Jane and Alan had arranged for there to be a marvellous array of bedding plants, hanging baskets etc. to be available for people to buy. It was an absolutely glorious day and those who did attend were able to soak up the sunshine whilst catching up with friends and enjoying a cream tea!!!

The diligent, who went straight home to plant out their purchases, will have had their plants well watered in by the God given rain the following day!

Thank you Jane, Alan and al your helpers for making it a good afternoon.

How the Christmas Fair went!

Running alongside the Christmas Tree Festival was the St. John's Christmas Fair. This also did well with visitors able to enjoy a cup of coffe or a meal whilst chatting with friends. Children (and adults for that matter) were able to meet Father Christmas who not only listened to what they wanted but told them exciting stories too! There really was fun and games for everyone with the added bonus that over £2,000 was raised for the church by the fair!

Plant Sale

The plant sale on Saturday 26th May went really well. The plants were of excellent quality and nearly all the three trolley loads of plants available were sold. The bright sunshine probably encouraged more people to attend the sale and people who went straight home to plant out their purchases were twice blessed! They had sunshine to buy and plant in and then plenty of rain the following day to water the new plants. Those who went home from the sale and put their feet up, with the intention of planting up the following day, were probably less happy with the weather. (Motto: never put off until tomorrow what you can do today!)

In addition to the benefits reaped by those who bought plants and/or came along for a delicious cream tea, £226.55 was raised for Church Funds. Well done all those concerned in the organisation and running of the event.
