On Sunday 14th
July, 4U2@6 was followed by our annual barbecue and what a beautiful evening it was
for the event!
In fact entering the hall
for the service people were complaining of the heat in there – “How often do we
do that?”
Jeremy led the discussions on “The Barbecue on the Beach”(!) based on a
reading from John chapter 21 and what this passage meant for us today.
John 21 is the chapter where Jesus meets his disciples by Lake Galilee,
directs them to catch a huge haul of fish, and then uses some of their fish in
a breakfast cooked on a fire on the beach. Finally he helps Peter who had
denied him 3 times at the time Jesus' trial, to understand that he is truly
forgiven and should follow Jesus wherever He (Jesus) leads him (Peter).
The service over, we went
outside to find Dave and Barry had already been hard at work stoking up the
fires!
Doris had kindly brought Bucks
Fizz along for everybody to share! [She
had hoped to bring it along for us on her 80th birthday
but, unfortunately, she was unwell that day.]

It was lovely to see her fit and well again and the Bucks Fizz was very
much appreciated on that warm evening.
It was a convivial
evening -
