On Friday 16th October 60 members of St. John’s, and their friends, came to the church hall to share a fantastic meal, hear an inspiring speaker and enjoy each others company in a convivial atmosphere. There was some anxiety for the organisers as the guest speaker, The Very Revd Justin Welby, arrived late
, having been misled by his satellite navigation system! However, as soon as Justin arrived everyone relaxed and a delicious meal was begun. All the amazing catering was undertaken by Christine who was ably assisted during the evening by her four charming, efficient and considerate waitresses, Abbie, An
ne, Hannah and Lucy.Justin’s talk was excellent – both inspiring and humbling. Altogether, everyone had a most enjoyable time.

At the end of the evening, after his vote of thanks, Geoffrey presented Justin with an enormous plant. Christine also graciously received a gift – but her plant was more modest in size (which may have been a relief to her)!I should like to add my thanks to Justin, Christine and her helpers for a fabulous evening and also to Geoffrey for organising the event.
