Fair Trade Cofee morning (23/10/10)

On Saturday 23rd October St. John's hosted a Fair Trade coffee morning to promote One World Week.
(For more information on One World week see www.oneworldweek.org.)
At the coffee morning The Fair Trade Store had a stall selling a wide range of amazing gifts and accessories. Not only did the morning give us a chance to catch up with friends over a cup of (Fair Trade) coffee in a convivial atmosphere but also to get started on Christmas shopping from a display of wonderful, unusual, ethically traded gifts.
(If you were unable to get to the coffee morning but would like to know more about the Fair Trade Store go to http://www.thefairtradestore.co.uk/.)
In addition to all that, as a result of the event we are able to send £30 to Andy and Rosie (our mission partners in Brazil) to help them buy Christmas presents for the boys who come to "My Father's House".

Joyce tells me that last year, Andy & Rosie set up a Christmas fund to buy presents for the boys. Over £1000 was given and they were able to take the boys shopping to buy a new outfit of clothes and shoes. (For some of the boys this was the first time they had been to a shopping mall and had new clothes.) There was also enough money to make up a Christmas Stocking for each of them and a bit of money left over to take them to the cinema during the post Christmas break.-
They would love to be able to do the same this year but it depends on people like us providing the money
."

If you would like to help, please let Joyce have your donation –it doesn’t have to be a large amount- and she’ll ensure it goes into the special bank account they have created.
