After the 10.30am service on Sunday, 3rd July around 35 parishioners of all ages made their way to Botanic Gardens loaded with chairs, rugs, games and, of course, picnics.
The weather was absolutely glorious – hot, sunny and not a whisper of a breeze - which made a wonderful change to the windy weather we’ve experienced so far this year.
Rugs and chairs were soon spread out and everyone indulged in looking at everyone else’s picnics – why do other people’s sandwiches always look more interesting?
Once everyone was fed and watered (or wined) out came the games; football for the more energetic, giant noughts and crosses, skittles and Jenga were all to be seen.
Some of the younger members of the group played hide and seek and some of the older ones took the opportunity to soak up the sun and catch up on the gossip.
All in all a truly happy time of fellowship was enjoyed in lovely surroundings and the glorious weather was the icing on the cake!
