Farnborough Road Schools visit the church

During the week after the Charity Christmas Tree Festival the church was visited by children from both Farnborough Road Infant and Farnborough Road Junior Schools.

On Monday, 10th December, the infants came to look at the trees, choose the charities they wanted to support and put their pennies in the appropriate boxes.

Whilst they were here they took the opportunity to sing again

and also to discuss, with Jeremy, why we have trees at Christmas

and the fact that Jesus did not remain a baby and that his real work didn’t begin until he’d grown up!

To get some idea of what Jeremy told the children about the origin of the Christmas tree go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/devon/content/articles/2005/12/05/st_boniface_christmas_tree_feature.shtml.  Mind you he did get to this story via Albert (suggested by a child) - not Einstein (as suggested by others!) – the husband of Queen Victoria!

On Tuesday, 11th December, the Juniors came in to rehearse and later to perform the first of their two Carol Concerts (the next one will take place on 18th December).

Apart from songs and carols the concert was punctuated by readings from the nativity story, recitations and a variety of instrumentalists both performing both individually and in groups.

Towards the end of the concert a Yr5 and Yr6 dance group even performed “The Nutcracker”!

This was followed by headteacher, Adrian Antell, thanking every body and

then everyone wished Mollie and her little friend a "Happy Birthday" as it was their birthday that day!

The concert ended with “Hark the Herald” followed by prayers and a blessing by Jeremy.

It is wonderful to have all these children, their teachers, families and friends in our church.
          Thank you all for coming.
